Modus

Modus

Modus fuses two ostensibly disparate visual realities: the vertiginous kinetic spectacle of Coney Island in Brooklyn and the image of Earth viewed from the cosmos.

This juxtaposition materializes the collective psychological condition during the pandemic and the ensuing lockdowns, encoding the precise modus by which humanity navigated this historical epoch.

The work constructs a tableau wherein humanity is forced into stasis, its voice silenced, spinning uncontrollably within the relentless flux of events. The oblique and chaotic composition of the figures on the mechanical apparatus reflects a profound loss of gravitational anchoring and physical reference points. By situating this scene against the planet isolated in the absolute darkness of the void, the piece establishes a reality where humanity perceives itself in a state of cosmic solitude, confronted by an invisible adversary.

This experience, endured universally and with radical democratic equality, crystallizes here as a visual testament. Through the lens of the Generative Gaze, the work demonstrates how the collective perception of a global crisis reconfigures reality and fundamentally alters our relationship with the environment. The universe is presented as an immense, silent proscenium that amplifies the vulnerability of the human condition. Modus endures as a perceptual artifact of those times, anchoring in the collective memory the profound sensations of vertigo, isolation, and estrangement that defined contemporary society.
